This branch library was carefully tucked into the heavily forested four acre site so that thick stands of mature trees surround the building creating a relaxing atmosphere. The building is an elongated arc sited to face north and south, eliminating east/west heat gain, shading the building on the elongated south side to reduce cooling cost. Natural light is provided primarily by north-facing clerestory windows and by south-facing windows shaded with an 8 foot overhang. Some 60 public access computers have been provided, so to reduce computer screen glare and eye fatigue, indirect lighting has been used throughout.
