This recreation center is one of two identical community centers designed by SGB to replace aging, outdated one-room facilities. The client mandated identical designs to fit sites of different size, orientation and topography, predetermining a lineal solution. Large glazed, north facing glass walls provide light for the arts/crafts, clubroom and operations area. North facing glass block is used in the games area for light and to withstand potential abuse from billiard balls, and Kalwall is used extensively to provide generous amounts of light into the gymnasium and the upper reaches of games, operations and gallery areas.
